Theme: Good Communication = Understanding

..."Good communication is thew lubricating oil that makes all parts of operation run smoothly and effectively..."

Why is communication so important in raising children?

Children do not always have the words to express their needs, emotions, or frustrations–but they are always trying to communicate–some through behaviors-verbal and non-verbal, physical, social or emotional expression-anger, outburst, cry, withdrawal, etc.

What looks like misbehavior is often a child communicating in the only way they know how–However, building connections (parent at eye level with your child) leads to understanding–listening closely enough or being patient adjust the communications.

"Parents who have positive communication with their children experience positive interactions and relationships with them. A child's emotional growth and well-being are nurtured through effective communication", Parents Guidance & Personal Care for Children: A Role of Keeping Children Safe and Healthy.

Are we expecting too much from schools and too little from early parenting support?
